Originally from North Carolina Melissa received her training at Leon's Beauty School in Greensboro.  Prior to her cosmetology education she trained as a make-up artist and won numerous awards for her work in this field.  After completing her cosmetology training Melissa enjoyed over five years of employment in an upscale salon in Baltimore, Maryland where her clientele included some of the town's most elite.  After returning to Durham Melissa joined the talented staff at Posh The Salon.  

Melissa has received extensive training in all forms of chemical straightening, including the Japanese and Brazilian techniques.  She also trained in California to receive a certification in hair extension systems for various hair types and textures. Melissa has enjoyed additional training in color techniques and specializes in corrective color, as well as working with curly and coarse-textured hair types.

Currently, Melissa travels regularly to attend shows and continuing education classes so that she may stay abreast of the latest trends and techniques.
